ADMINISTRATORS

 

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR.

 

It is the responsibility of administrators to set the example for the rest of the club to follow.

  • Involve young people in planning, leadership, evaluation and decision making related to the sport. Give all young people the equal opportunities to participate.
  • Create a pathway for youngsters to participate the sport not just as a player but as a coach, referee or administration.
  • Ensure that rules, equipment, duration of games and training schedules are modified to suit ages, ability and maturity level of young people.
  • Provide quality supervision and instruction for junior players.
  • Remember at all times that young people participate for their enjoyment and benefit. Do not emphasise awards.
  • Help coaches and officials highlight appropriate behaviour and skill development, and to help improve the standards of coaching and officiating. Ensure that everyone involved in junior sport emphasises fair play, and not winning at all cost. Give a Code of Behaviour sheet to spectators, officials, parents, coaches, players and encourage them to abide by it. Remember, you set an example. Your behaviour and comments should be positive and supportive. Support implementing the National Junior Sport Policy.
  • Make it clear that abusing young people in any way is unacceptable and will result in disciplinary action.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

PLAYERS

 

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR.

 

All players must read the following carefully and adhere to these guidelines at all times.

 

  • Play by the rules of the game at all times.
  • Be a good sport.
  • Always be in control of your temper and emotions. Verbal abuse of match officials and sledging other players is not acceptable. Getting upset and throwing tantrums will only upset you and your team mates.
  • Try and learn the rules of the game, so that you will become more aware as to why certain decisions are made.
  • Do not penalise yourself and your team by getting sent off or cautioned.
  • Fighting, swearing or abusive language will not be tolerated.
  • Players must attend official matches in appropriate club attire provided by the club.
  • Your best behaviour is of paramount importance when you are wearing any attire of Sunshine George Cross F.C. This makes you responsible for your actions.
  • Keep your uniform and all other playing equipment in good clean condition. 
  • Any deliberate damage to club or any other club’s property must be paid for by the offender(s).
  • Let your captain, coach, or team manager approach match officials.
  • Treat team mates and opponents with respect like you would like to be treated.
  • Cooperate with your coach and team manager in all decision they make.
  • Coaches, Team Managers and club officials are there to help you. Ask them for assistance at all times.
  • If you cannot say something nice about your fellow team-mates, say nothing at all.
  • Participate for you own enjoyment and benefit.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • Work hard for yourself and your team at all times.

PARENTS

 

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR.

 

All parents and guardians must read the following carefully AND adhere to these guidelines at all times.

  • Encourage children to participate.
  • Do not pressure children into doing something they are not comfortable with.
  • Always remember children participate in sport for their own enjoyment, not yours.
  • Focus on child’s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing.
  • Encourage children to always play by the rules of the game.
  • Ensure your child arrives by the stipulate times for training and matches and in the required attire for the occasion.
  • Be courteous and notify the team manager direct if your child is unable to play for what ever reason. Failure to do this could jeopardise your child’s chances of playing the following week.
  • Try and learn the rules of the game, so that you will enjoy the game more.
  • Encourage children to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence.
  • Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake or losing a contest.
  • Appreciate good performances and skilful play by all participants. Children learn best by example.
  • If a child is very sick, or was badly injured, the club must be provided with an all clear to play doctor’s certificate, before being allowed to resume training or playing matches.
  • Remove verbal and physical abuse as well as becoming intoxicated from all sporting centres.
  • Always be in control of your temper and emotions. Verbal abuse of match officials and sledging other players is not acceptable. Getting upset and throwing tantrums will only upset you and reflect badly on the club.
  • Any deliberate damage to club or any other club’s property must be paid for by the offender(s).
  • Your best behaviour is of paramount importance when you are wearing any attire of Sunshine George Cross F.C.
  • Always respect officials’ decisions and teach children to do likewise.
  • If you cannot say something nice about fellow parents or players, say nothing at all.
  • Always be supportive of your child and keep in mind long term success is not dependant on the result of any one match, no matter how important that game might be at the time.
  • Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them children would not be participating in sport.
  • Parents are asked not to interfere with coach’s decisions or team selections. Go through proper authorities to lodge any complaints. The Committee fully supports the coach’s decision. If however you have a grievance you should first attempt to discuss the matter with the coach and team manager. If unsuccessful write to the Committee to discuss the matter further.
  • All queries relating to the club must be directed to the Junior Committee.  
  • Parents are not to entre playing arena, changing rooms and other areas set aside for players and officials on match days.
  • This club belongs to all of us and your assistance especially on match days should not be begged for. Come forward and make yourself available without being asked.
  • The Junior Committee has the right to expel or suspend any parent / guardian or player from the club for breaching any of the above guidelines.
  • Parent / guardians signing this document are aware that club officials have the right to assist their child with medical attention when required in case of an accident or injury.
  • All fees are non-refundable and must be paid in full prior to the first game of the season.
  • Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

COACHES

 

CODE OF CONDUCT.

 

Coaches are there to pass on their knowledge for the benefit of the sport. 

  • Always remember young people participate for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun. 
  • Never ridicule or yell at a young player for making a mistake or not coming first.
  • Be reasonable in your demands on players’ time, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Operate within the rules and spirit of our game and teach your youngsters to do the same.
  • Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience.
  • Ensure all young people are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
  • Avoid over playing the talented players. The just average players need and deserve quality playing time.
  • Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players.
  • Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved in the sport. This includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, media, parents and spectators. Encourage your players to the same.
  • Your best behaviour is of paramount importance when you are wearing any attire of Sunshine George Cross F.C.
  • Show concern and caution towards sick and injured players. Follow the advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition.
  • Obtain appropriate qualifications and keep updated with the latest coaching practices and the principles of growth and development of young people.
  • Any physical contact with a young person should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player’s skill development.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural of religion.

SUPPORTERS

 

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR.

 

Supporters are vital for the club but they have to be aware of their duties to the club

  • Respect the decisions of club officials and set an example for young people to do the same.
  • Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, players, coaches or officials.
  • Show respect for your team’s opponent. Without them there would be no game.
  • Encourage players to play by the rules without resorting to gamesmanship.
  • Try and learn the rules of the game, so that you will enjoy the game more.
  • Do not use foul language, sledge or harass players, coaches or officials.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural of religion.
  • Spectators are not to entre playing arena, changing rooms and other areas set aside for players and officials on match days.
  • Racial abuse in any form or shape will not be tolerated at any time.
  • Do not intimidate, harass or use foul language towards players, match officials, club officials, or other spectators.
  • Remove verbal and physical abuse as well as becoming intoxicated from all sporting centres.
  • Any deliberate damage to club or any other club’s property must be paid for by the offender(s).
  • If the club is charged with any offence and is fined the offender(s) will be liable to pay the fines imposed on the club.
  • All queries relating to the club must be directed to the Executive Committee.  
  • Your best behaviour is of paramount importance when you are wearing any attire of Sunshine George Cross F.C.
  • Do not make visiting supporters feel unwelcomed when playing at our ground. Always keep in mind how we would like to be welcomed when playing at their ground.   
  • This club belongs to all of us and your assistance especially on match days should not be begged for. Come forward and make yourself available without being asked.
  • If you cannot say something nice about fellow supporters, say nothing at all.

BREACHES

  • Breaches of this code, depending on circumstances and severity, may be warranted as conduct unbecoming and / or bringing the club into disrepute. Any breach therefore, may be heard as disciplinary hearing before the club Executive. Penalties for breaches will be determined by the Committee of Sunshine George Cross Football Club.

OTHER

  • This policy is written as a guide to conduct at Sunshine George Cross Football Club. If administrators, coaches, managers, players or spectators disagree with any aspect of this policy, then this matter should be raised in writing with the Executive of S.G.C.F.C. so that the matter can be heard and determined in a fair and reasonable manner.
