Looking for their first win at Chaplin Reserve, the game began with the team
dominating for most of the first half. Against the run of play a quick counter
attach saw Western Suburbs take the lead.
Midway through the first half, with great pace Chris Sutera cut inside to drive the ball home for the equaliser. The ascendency was certainly with the home side. A well drive corner outside the box found the unmarked Max Golijanin whose 20m strike gave the Western Suburbs Goal Keeper no chance for the Georgies second. With the half time break looming, the home side was unable to convert some very good goalscoring opportunites. At half time Sunshine George Cross went in with the lead 2 to Western Suburbs 1.
On the balance of play Sunshine dominated the second half but were unable to find that all import third goal. On many occasions, a Western Suburbs Defender or the Goal Keeper denied certain goal scoring opportunies. A well deserved result.
Final Score:
Sunshine George Cross 2
Western Suburbs 1
