Sunshine George Cross has been relegated from the VPL Foxtel Cup. In a do-or-die clash against Richmond, where the Cross needed a win to remain among the elite of Victorian football an embarrassing 8-0 drubbing is what the Georgie faithfult witnessed against a much more desperate opponent.

State League Division 1 football is what now awaits in season 2008. In what shapes as a time of rebuilding for the club, there will be no doubt be many departures and new arrivals on the playing roster. The club must now take the opportunity to see next year as an opportunity to blood some youngsters for the years ahead. Away from the high wage demands of VPL players the club will get it's finances back on track and bounce back into the VPL on the back of the imminent sale of Chaplin Reserve. The rebuilding phase may not have immediate returns but many believe it is a process which needs to be done to secure the long term future of the club. We thank all the fans who supported the team during season 2007. We look forward to your much needed support in season 2008.
