For the Georgies it was the reversal of form with another poor performance that resulted in a second successive defeat. Heideberg held the upper hand in the early stages forcing several corner kicks, but it was the Georgies who took the lead after 12 minutes through Taxiarhis Apostolikos. Sunshine captain Fidell Richards battled hard for the ball on the left wing and his cross was headed home by the Sunshine George Cross debutant. Heidelberg had plenty of the ball but never posed a problem until they were was presented with a gift goal after 30 minutes. Chris Konstas tried to shepherd the ball to let it run over the goal line, but Heidelberg's Yannis Galanos robbed him of the ball and centred to the unmarked Heidelberg debutant George Slefandorfas who made the it 1-1. Sunshine George Cross generosity continued just before half time with another goal served on a platter. David Calleja was too casual and was easily robbed of the ball by Josip Kozic, who slipped the ball to the unmarked Saso Aleksovski to give Heidelberg a 2-1 at the break. Osagie Ederaro was a constant threat on the right wing and his tantalising cross early in the second half was fortunately deflected for a corner by a Georgie defender. From the ensuing corner Martin John pulled off the save of the game from an Ederaro header. George Slenadorfas took advantage of a hesitant Georgie defence and his toe poke went past the upright. Goal scoring chances remained at a premium in the second half with Heidelberg doing it comfortably to hold on to a much needed win to get off the bottom of the ladder. Sunshine coach Andy O'Dell was bitterly disappointed with his sides effort saying it was the worst performance to date and changes are needed.
UNDER 21: HEIDELBERG UNITED 4 SUNSHINE GEORGE CROSS 0 O Our under 21 team are going through a horrid period with another heavy loss to Heidelberg. Our second team has under gone several changes with a number of the more experienced players being promoted to the senior team. The younger ones coming in have an opportunity to prove themselves and it will take time for them to adjust to the tempo of second grade football.
