The Sunshine George Cross Under 21's have begun the season brightly, winning 3 out of the first 4 matches and occupy second position on the League Table. The Georgies don't seem to be having any trouble finding the back of the net either, banging in 20 goals so far. There have been big wins over Kingston and Essendon and a narrow loss to Preston.
Round 4 produced a 2-1 win over the Melbourne Knights. There was a goal in each half for the Georgies, with Miguel Barrigos scoring the first and Fahed Alghazaly getting the second with a brave header. Goalkeeper Wes Coles was knocked unconscious mid way through the second half and was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital. He was replaced in goal by outfield player Brett Tabone who did a fine job. Captain Jonathan Falzon was sent off with 15 minutes remaining and the visiting Knights pulled a goal back in injury time.
