ROUND 7 PREVIEW PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 24 March 2006
In Round 7 of the Vodafone Cup Sunshine George Cross take on South Melbourne at Chaplin Reserve this coming Sunday.

Georgie suffered another away defeat under lights 0-2 last week against league leaders Altona Magic. This game was also Chris Taylor's last at the helm of the club after the committee relieved him of his duties as coach. The Georgies are yet to pick up a point on their travels this season. The four competition points gained so far have all been at Chaplin Reserve. (A win, a draw and a loss from three games) and all six goals scored have also been at home. The new coach will be looking for maximum points for home fans who have been disappointed with the club's start to the season.

South Melbourne were inactive last week as their Round 6 fixture against the Melbourne Knights was postponed till the Easter break. Will the lack of match practice affect South's game? Prior to the break, South had picked up four points from six in their last two encounters with their last result being a 1-1 draw away to Essendon. South have ten points from five games and occupy 5th position on the League Table. They have maximum points from games at Bob Jane Stadium, but have dropped points on their travels.

Last season's game between the two sides at Chaplin Reserve ended in a 0-0 draw.

In other games; Kingston take on Green Gully at the Grange, co-tenants Essendon and Bulleen battle it out at the Veneto, Richmond are at home to Altona Magic, Preston host Frankston Pines, Melbourne Knights tackle Oakleigh in what is shaping up to be the match of the round and Fawkner-Whittlesea play Heidelberg at Epping.
